In this course, the learner will review the articles of the NFPA 70E standard to understand the requirements for work around electrical equipment, particularly as they pertain to being a qualified person. This E-Learning Electrical Safety course provides guidance about the content of an electrical safety program for the workplace, training and job briefing requirements, responsibilities of everyone who works with or near electrical equipment (qualified or unqualified), and the elements required to reach an electrically safe work condition. Additionally, this training addresses important safety concepts for working around energized electrical equipment, including:
- Justification for energized work
- Identification of hazards and the assessment of risks
- Identification and use of protective shock and arc flash boundaries
- Control of electrical energy through lockout/tagout
- Selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment
Upon completion of the training modules, learners will complete a knowledge assessment. Those who complete this training must also be evaluated by their employer to ensure understanding of the information provided. The course must be coupled with on-the-job training to become a qualified person.
