In this online course, learners will receive information about the disease of addiction, the effect of drugs and alcohol on work performance, and the supervisor’s role in maintaining a drug-free workplace.

This training satisfies the requirements defined in 49 CFR 382.607 “Training for supervisors” by including a thorough review of the misuse of alcohol and controlled substances as well as training on the physical, behavioral, speech, and performance indicators of probable alcohol misuse and use of controlled substances. Supervisors can use this training when preparing for their role in determining whether reasonable suspicion exists (as it relates to workplace drug testing). Additionally, learners will be briefed on the components of a Drug-Free Workplace Policy, the benefits of an Employee Assistance Program, and the legal responsibilities of the supervisor. Finally, those who complete this training will be better prepared for handling potential crisis situations, sensitive confrontations, confidentiality, and substance abuse investigations. Upon completion of the training modules, learners will complete a knowledge assessment. Those who complete this training must also be evaluated by their employer to ensure understanding of the information provided.
