STCW BST INITIAL Training (with Elementary First Aid)

Since the revision of the STCW code (Manila Amendments 2010), all seafarers and professional yachtsmen must hold the CFBS (Basic Safety Training Certificate).

During Basic Safety Training, you will receive the knowledge required to:

• Take the necessary measures in the event of abandonment of a ship, apply individual survival techniques at sea (STCW Personal Survival Techniques)
• Minimize the risk of fire and fight more effectively against a fire on board (STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting)
• Deliver basic first aid , active and participate in a level 1 telemedical consultation, apply hygiene and prevention rules on board. (STCW Elementray First Aid)
• Apply emergency procedures, prevent pollution of the marine environment, observe safer work practices, communicate more effectively. (STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities)

The CFBS (STCW BST) is a mandatory safety training for anyone wishing to take up employment on board a professional vessel. During the basic STCW safety training, you will receive all the knowledge necessary to work on board a ship in complete safety and to act in the various possible emergency situations. The CFBS is valid for 5 years and you must follow a CFBS Refresher every 5 years to update your knowledge and revalidate your certification.

Your basic safety training will consist of theoretical lessons but also practical exercises (use of fire extinguishers, first aid equipment, etc.). It will allow you to adapt to all circumstances.
