NOGEPA 0.5A Basic Offshore Safety including CA-EBS
From July 1, 2020, the content of the NOGEPA 0.5C CA-EBS training will be covered in the NOGEPA 0.5A course. In the North Sea sector all Dutch and English helicopters are meanwhile equipped with the CA-EBS system. In case this specific CA-EBS system is installed you are not allowed to travel by helicopter without a valid CA-EBS certificate.

Practicing the CA-EBS in shallow water will become a standard part of the training for delegates who have been declared medically fit for in water CA-EBS. Delegates without this fitness statement on their Offshore medical certificate will instead complete a dry training, without negatively affecting their certification. This means that certificates of delegates who have practiced the CA-EBS in the water are the same as those of delegates who have practiced the CA-EBS on dry land.

The CA-EBS will not be practiced during the HUET exercises, but in water no deeper than 0.5 meters.

Course Content:

  • Safety Introduction
  • Helicopter safety / HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) incl CA-EBS
  • Sea Survival & First Aid
  • Fire Fighting & Self Rescue

Safety Introduction is a theoretical module where the delegate meets with different types of offshore platforms, the risks and dangers, managing the safety and, last but not least, living and working offshore.

The theoretical part of the Helicopter safety module is mainly focused on travelling by helicopter, and the possible risks during the helicopter flights. By means of the HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) the delegate will undergo a practical training experience in the FMTC training pool.

The module Sea Survival & First Aid is concentrated on how to survive on sea and offering First Aid. In the FMTC training pool the delegate will practically learn how to survive on sea in a life raft.

The module Fire Fighting & Self Rescue is about fire safety and fire fighting. Besides the theoretical knowledge the skills for Fire Fighting & Self Rescue will also be applied in practice. The delegate will learn to fight different fires with the appropriate fire-fighting equipment.
