Preparation course for OIM Controlling Emergencies (CE)

The aim of the support course for the OPITO OIM-CE course is to prepare the potential candidate for the OPITO OIM-CE assessment, which is for personnel who are deemed ready by their employer to be formally assessed in the role of an OIM, Deputy for OIM, or Emergency Deputy for OIM, during an emergency situation. This course takes place in the dedicated bespoke Emergency Control Centre (ECC) facilities located at FMTC Dordrecht, the Netherlands. Whilst delegates may be experienced in operations on their particular installation, it is strongly recommended that this prep-course is attended directly before the OIM-CE assessment in order that the participant may familiarise themselves with the type of scenarios, simulator model to be used and the layout and facilities of the Emergency Control Centre, in order that the Assessment process for the OIM-CE course runs smoothly.

Why take the Preparation course?

The OIM-CE Preparation course is to prepare the candidate/personnel who have been deemed ready by their employer to be formally assessed in the role of an OIM, Deputy for OIM, or Emergency Deputy for OIM, during an emergency situation.

What does the Preparation course entail?

In this course the participant may familiarise themselves with the type of scenarios, simulator model to be used and the layout and facilities of the Emergency Control Centre, in order that the Assessment process for the OIM-CE course runs smoothly.

What could this Course lead to?

This course is directly in support of the OPITO OIM-CE Product (7025).

What are the entry requirements?

There is no direct criteria for this preparation course for OIM-CE. However, in order to qualify for the OIM-CE course itself, it must be noted that a formal declaration and supporting evidence from the candidate’s employer will be required confirming that the learner has achieved the performance criteria in Outcome 1 Maintain a state of readiness in the workplace. Medical entry requirements

There is no official medical entry requirement for the preparation course itself.

However, the Assessment activities contained within the OPITO OIM-CE course may include physically demanding and potentially stressful elements so it must be noted that all personnel who participate in such activities must be capable of participating fully and must sign a Medical Declaration form to acknowledge this.
