Course Objectives
The Emergency Medical Responder – Initial training aims to provide participants with the capabilities to act swiftly and effectively during medical emergencies. This training covers a wide range of critical topics to ensure a thorough understanding and practical application of emergency medical response procedures.
Participants will learn to:
- Understand the EMS system and the role of an Emergency Medical Responder
- Apply legal and ethical principles in emergency medical response
- Recognize and manage wellness and safety concerns
- Use medical terminology and understand basic anatomy and physiology
- Perform lifting and moving techniques safely
- Communicate and document patient information accurately
- Manage airways, administer oxygen, and monitor vital signs

- Provide care for trauma, cardiac, respiratory, and environmental emergencies
- Perform practical skills such as medical and trauma assessments, and the use of AEDs
