The Water Survival/HUET (METS) course covers a spectrum of essential aspects crucial for offshore personnel. Starting with Helicopter Transportation Pre-flight operations, it includes detailed modules on Boat Travel/Personnel Transfer, Platform Orientation/Emergency Drills, and extends to critical scenarios like Platform Abandonment and T.E.M.P.S.C (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft).
Delve into the intricacies of Life Raft Operations, Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs), Cold Water Physiology, and explore location aids, including visual, audio, and electronic signaling. Understand the operation and use of global maritime distress and safety systems like GMDSS, VHF Radio, SART, EPIRB, ELT, ADELT, and PLB.
The course extensively covers Helicopter Transportation, encompassing pre-flight and boarding operations, onboard safety equipment, helicopter floatation, and HUET, which stands for Helicopter Underwater Egress Training. From controlled to uncontrolled ditching, brace positions, and preparing for ditching challenges, you’ll gain comprehensive knowledge.
The practical session, conducted in a swimming pool, is a vital component of the training. It validates your skills in platform abandonment, water entry, life raft boarding, and various survival techniques. Delegates will undergo scenarios to demonstrate the HELP & Group HUDDLE positions, survival circle, group swim techniques, and underwater egress procedures.
Training Center Provided Material and Delegate Requirements
The training center provides PFDs, coveralls, helmets, and water shoes. Delegates are required to bring swimwear, a towel, and nose clips or earplugs. Good physical health is essential, given the demanding nature of practical training.
