Travelling by helicopter from UK to for example an offshore installation requires taking a shoulder measurement. This is done at FMTC.

Shoulder measurement

Before travelling by helicopter from the UK, you will have to have had a shoulder measurement, measuring the width of the shoulders. A measurement of more than 55.9 cm (22”) is classed as extra broad (XBR) and the passenger will be allocated a window seat, adjusted to the width of his shoulders. A shoulder measurement of less than 55.9 cm (non XBR) does not require a specific seat allocation.

Measurements will be taken by specially trained staff and a certificate stating the measurement will be issued, with indefinite validity.
