More information about NOGEPA 0.5B Basic Offshore Safety
The NOGEPA 0.5B Basic Offshore Safety is a refresher course of the NOGEPA 0.5A Basic Offshore Safety and is meant to refresh your memory in order to remember all the information that was taught to you. This refresher course consists of both practical lessons as well as theoretical lessons.
NOGEPA 0.5B Basic Offshore Safety including CA-EBS and EBS
From July 1, 2020, the content of the NOGEPA 0.5C CA-EBS training will be covered in the NOGEPA 0.5B course. In the North Sea sector all Dutch and English helicopters are meanwhile equipped with the CA-EBS system. In case this specific CA-EBS system is installed you are not allowed to travel by helicopter without a valid CA-EBS certificate.
Practicing the CA-EBS in shallow water will become a standard part of the training for delegates who have been declared medically fit for in water CA-EBS. Delegates without this fitness statement on their Offshore medical certificate will instead complete a dry training, without negatively affecting their certification. This means that certificates of delegates who have practiced the CA-EBS in the water are the same as those of delegates who have practiced the CA-EBS on dry land.
The CA-EBS will not be practiced during the HUET exercises, but in water no deeper than 0.5 meters. During the HUET exercises we still use the EBS. Read here more about this change.
During the practical classes you learn to develop the right set of skills for the basic safety techniques and to be able to provide basic first aid on an offshore installation. During the theoretical lessons you are taught how to recognize and understand a potential dangerous situation on an offshore installation.
