“The objective of medical assistance at sea (AMM) is to provide patient care (seafarer or offshore technician) with resources and timeframes similar to those provided on land. It involves the CROSS (French Maritime Medical Assistance Center), the CCMM (French Maritime Medical Assistance Center), and the SCMM (French Maritime Emergency Medical Service).
The CCMM is the entry point for medical assistance at sea in France. It functions as a telemedical assistance service (TMAS), and its opinion determines the operational follow-up (on-board care, disembarkation, evacuation, etc.). Given the unique working conditions (offshore) and the multitude of offshore wind projects in France, the General Secretariat for the Sea decided, by decree in 2021, to include offshore wind workers in the Offshore Medical Assistance program.
To ensure medical assistance and regulation for all needs without jeopardizing the organization and balance of Offshore Medical Assistance, offshore wind farm operators were required to undergo additional training. This led to the creation of the AMEOLEM (Medical Assistance for Offshore Wind) training program.
Anyone taking the AMEOLEM – CCMM training must hold a valid GWO Enhanced First Aid certificate.”
