My STCW certificate is expired, what now?

When your STCW certificate is expired there is a possibility that you are allowed to take the refresher course. If you have a valid boat license you can take the refresher course, but if you don't have one you will have to take the basic course again. Are your maritime courses instructed according to the new Manila Amendments?

Yes, all of our STCW courses are instructed according to the Manila Amendments 2010. The Manila Amendments describe the guidelines for training seafarers.

What courses are required to be able to work in the maritime sector?

In case you are going to work in the maritime sector an STCW Basic Safety Training is required. On this page you can find more information about the content of this course.

When does my maritime certificate become invalid?

The certificates with STCW certification are mostly valid for a period of five years. These have to be renewed in time in order to keep them valid. In the period of five years you are ought to have been on a ship for at least 365 days. When you aren’t certain about when your certificate expires, you could always look on the certificate. The expiration date should be on there.
