The GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore E-learning course (Global Wind Organisation) is a safety course aimed at people working in the wind industry. This GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore is a training where the delegate gets acquainted with the risks and dangers of working in the onshore wind industry.

During the Online GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore course, the delegate learns recognize the dangers and what to do in an emergency situation in a wind turbine. The delegate also develops the skills to provide First Aid, to save themselves and to fight fires. The delegates will be well prepared by practicing this emergency situation in a setting as realistic as possible.

The online onshore GWO Basic Safety Training is different than the offshore GWO Basic Safety Training. This course only focusses on working in the onshore wind industry, like in an onshore wind turbine for example. In this onshore version there is no GWO Sea Survival course, you only do the other 4 modules; GWO Working at Height E-learning, GWO First Aid E-learning, GWO Manual handling E-learning and GWO Fire Awareness E-learning.

After registering for GWO Basic Safety Training E-learning, the delegate receives access to online teaching material by e-mail immediately. With this, the theoretical part should be learned at your own time and place. This will take about 11 hours. When all theoretics online is completed, you will only have to do the practical exercises at the training center. After completing the theoretical & practical part of this GWO Basic Safety Training onshore blended learning you receive the same certificate as the normal GWO Basic Safety Training without e-learning.

Procedure GWO E-learning Basic Safety Training (Online GWO Basic Safety Training)

1. Choose your practice day on our calendar.
2. You will receive the booking confirmation for the practical day after your booking.
3. You will receive access to online teaching material by e-mail immediately.
4. Until the practical day, you can complete the e-learning.
5. By arrival at the training center, we check if you have completed the e-learning successful.
6. You have to do an assessment at our training center before the practical sessions.

  • If you don’t pass the assessment, then you have to do an oral assessment.
  • When it appears that you do not know the theory, you can not participate in the practical session.
  • FMTC facilitates any extra lessons, but this can not always be arranged on the same day.

Kindly note, the e-learning lasts an average of 11 hours. When you book in the evening, it is not possible to follow the practice day on the day after. When you have completed the e-learning, you must follow the practical day within 4 weeks.

    What does the GWO Basic Safety Training (onshore) E-learning course consist of?

    The course consists of 4 modules: GWO First AidGWO Working at Heights, GWO Fire Awareness and GWO Manual Handling. They can be taken separately or together.

    What is the window to join a GWO refresher?

    To maintain the original certification date, a certificate or training record can be renewed up to two months prior to expiry. It is still possible to join a refresher course outside of the two months of expiry. In this case, the certificate must carry the new date of certification. A participant is only allowed to attend a refresher course in the specific training module prior to the date of expiry on the current certificate or training records. The validity period is automatically calculated in WINDA by entering the course completion date.

    When do I receive access to the e-learning?

    After registering for GWO Basic Safety Training (onshore) E-learning, the delegate receives access to online teaching material by e-mail immediately.

    What is GWO?

    GWO stands for Global Wind Organization and is since 2012 the standard for the people working in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. GWO is formed by a cooperation between several large players in the wind industry.

    How is the GWO Basic Safety Training (onshore) E-learning taught?

    First you have to do the theoretical part at home at your own pace. Afterwards you can complete the practical part at one of our training facilities.

    What is the purpose of the GWO Basic Safety Training (onshore) course?

    The GWO Basic Safety Training (onshore) course will allow the delegate to understand the dangers and risks in the wind industry and how to act in emergency situations. The delegate will also learn how to save themselves, provide First Aid and fight fires. After successfully  completing the course, the delegate receives a GWO sticker for in their PSL book and a certificate. Furthermore the course will be uploaded to WINDA.

    How long does the GWO e-learning certificate remain valid?

    The certificate is valid for 2 years. After that, the training must be repeated, so the delegate stays sharp and is made aware of new developments. When your certificate is almost expired and you want to refresh you can take the GWO Basic Safety Training refresher.

    What does WINDA stand for?

    WINDA is the name of the Global Wind Industry Training Records Database. It maintains data on the certification status of GWO Certified Training Providers as well as the status of delegates that have attended courses. The delegate is required to create an account for WINDA, as a sticker and registration are added in WINDA upon succesful completion of a course.

    Click here to create an account in WINDA. Upon succesful registration, the user receives a WINDA ID. The WINDA ID is required for us to add the GWO course to the account of a delegate, including the Basic Training Course.

    The employer also has the option of creating an account, allowing them to verify the training status of their (potential) employees.
