BookSTCW stands for the International Convention on Standards, Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers. They are a set of minimum qualification standards set by the International Maritime Organisation for all crewmembers of a seaworthy ship. The course consists of a multitude of modules, including maritime security threats, recognising suspicious behaviour, weapons detection and using security equipment.
The STCW Ship Security Officer course consists of a theoretical and practical part.
The STCW Security Officer course will teach the delegate to understand the security dangers and risks while on board of a ship. The delegate will also learn how to assess security threats, how to recognise suspicious behaviour and using security equipment. At succesful completion of the course, the delegate receives a STCW Ship Security Officer (A-VI/5) certificate.
