Basic H2S Course (9014)

The OPITO H2S course is a required course meant for employees who work in the oil and gas industry and who may be at risk of being exposed to H2S. H2S is a dangerous gas that, with high concentrations, could lead to serious damage. Working in an environment where there is a possibility of H2S being released is very risky. That’s why it’s crucial that employees learn what the risks are and know how to act in emergency situations.

The course consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. What primarily will be discussed during this course is recognizing H2S, knowing which risks and dangers exist, and learning how to act when H2S is released. After successfully completing the course you will get an OPITO H2S OPITO approved certificate. This certificate is valid for 2 years.

Our OPITO H2S accreditation is assigned at our Ras Tanura location. With this accreditation, we can also offer the OPITO H2S training on location or at one of our other training locations.

Course content:

The OPITO Basic H2S course will cover several subjects. As mentioned before knowledge about the risks and knowing how to recognize when H2S is released are important points and will therefore be an important part of this course. Furthermore the H2S OPITO training will cover the following things:

• Features of H2S
• Knowledge about places where H2S could appear
• Deploying and using safety equipment, like gas detection equipment
• How to act when the gas alarm goes off or when H2S is released
• Knowledge about laws and regulations concerning H2S
• Knowledge about work tasks at H2S locations
• Evacuation procedures
• Providing First Aid for victims

The central point of this course is to enhance the safety of working in an H2S environment. By raising awareness amongst participants about the dangers of H2S, increasing the knowledge and by practicing with emergency situations this could be achieved.
