OPITO Banksman Assessment (Stage 3) (9068)

FMTC’s Crane Operator Safety course is designed to equip candidates with essential skills for safe and efficient crane operations. Through a blend of theory and practical sessions, candidates will demonstrate their ability to bank cranes using hand and radio signals, execute proper slinging techniques for various loads, and ensure overall safety in crane operations.

• Requirements:OPITO-approved Banksman and Slinger Initial Training Certificate obtained within the last 32 months AND
  A fully completed and valid OPITO Banksman and Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook, along with supporting evidence for each of the 57 tasks specified in the logbook requirements.

This course is ideal for individuals aiming to achieve Stage 3 OPITO certification as competent Banksmen & Slingers. Candidates should have prior banksman & slinger training or sufficient work experience to be eligible for the OPITO Stage 3 assessment.

Upon completion, candidates will demonstrate:

• Solid understanding of relevant lifting operation regulations.
• Proficiency in load assessment based on weight, center of gravity, and security.
• Competence in pre-use inspections of equipment for safe lifting practices.
• Ability to inspect containers and half heights and apply proper stowage and securing methods.
• Skill in load preparation, slinging, and directing load movement.
• Awareness of crucial safety precautions when working with cranes.

Prerequisites

Option 1

Candidates must hold:

• An OPITO-approved Banksman and Slinger Initial Training Certificate obtained within the last 32 months. AND
• A fully completed and valid OPITO Banksman and Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook, along with supporting evidence for each of the 57 tasks specified in the logbook requirements.

Option 2

Candidates must possess:

• An OPITO Approved Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment or Re-Assessment Certificate awarded within the previous 30 months.

Option 3

Candidates must provide evidence of competency and attainment of an equivalent qualification/certification by a nationally recognized awarding body, awarded within the last 30 months.

Please note that certificates expire after two years, and candidates with an expired OPITO Banksman and Slinger Assessment or Re-Assessment Certificate by more than 6 months must undergo OPITO Banksman and Slinger Initial Training before taking the Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment.
