Global Wind Organization (GWO)
The Global Wind Organization (GWO) originated when several major players in the wind industry started a partnership. GWO makes the standard for people who work in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. The goal is to create a safe working environment for the personnel in the wind industry.
What is a GWO course?
A GWO course is meant for people working in the wind industry. This course is mandatory, because without the basic safety training you’re not allowed to enter a platform or a ship. Do you want to follow a GWO course? Then book directly the GWO Basic Safety course or one of the separate modules.
In 2012, the GWO Basic Safety Training (GWO BST) was therefore introduced. This course allows the participant to get acquainted with the risks and dangers when working in the wind industry. During this course, the participant also learns how to handle risky situations.
GWO courses at FMTC Safety
The Basic Safety Training course consists of five different modules. These are GWO First Aid, GWO Working at Heights, GWO Sea Survival, GWO Fire Awareness and GWO Manual Handling. You can also follow these modules separately. During these courses, the theory of the relevant subject is discussed. Later on, this theory will be applied during practical exercises.
What is a GWO advanced course?
Global Wind Organisation has launched two new training standards in 2019, designed to elevate the life saving and rescue skills of technicians working on wind turbines. Windpower technicians often work in remote areas where there is no immediate access to medical assistance.
The GWO Enhanced First Aid and the GWO Avanced Rescue Training delivers the skills that will help technicians stablise a casualty in the event of a potentially life threatening illness or trauma, and elevate rescuer self-reliance so that casualties can be successfully transported to a point where emergency responders can provide care.
These courses are more advanced courses after the basic courses. Don’t you have a valid GWO Basic course, but you need the advanced course? We also provide GWO combination courses, so you can do the basic course and the advanced course together.
After successful completion of these GWO courses, you will be registered on WINDA. This registration has a validity of 2 years, after which you need to repeat the course. This way, the participant will be up to date and will remain informed regarding the latest developments.
FMTC Safety instructors are certified and know the field. They know what they are talking about and can convey procedures and techniques in a fascinating and realistic way. This way, you remember the course material better. Because we know how important a good schedule is, you can train with us whenever it suits you.
