With the basic First Aid course you will work individually at home as well as in groups on a course location. By combining an online preparation with classroom lessons, all the important basic principles of providing First Aid will be covered. Because a part of the course can be taken online it is possible to arrange your own hours. This means you can be flexible. Because it is also important to practice with practical examples, the online preparation will be supplemented by classroom lessons with other delegates.

This courses takes 1 day in total. You will start with preparing online which takes approximately 4 hours. This part mostly covers the theoretical material of the course. Trough knowledge test and videos you will get familiar with the theory of First Aid. The online preparation is followed by the classroom lessons. These lessons also take another 4 hours. Therefore the layout of this course is as follows:

  • Online: 4 hours
  • In class: 4 hours

Before you can participate in the classroom lessons, the online preparation has to be completed first. If you complete the whole course you will get an Officially certified Red Cross certificate. This certificate is valid for 2 years. After booking the online course you will have one year of unlimited access to the virtual learning environment.

Course content:

What do you learn exactly at the basic First Aid course? How to act when one of the following aspects occurs:

  • Cardiac arrest: performing resuscitation and usage of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Unconsciousness
  • Choking
  • Wounds
  • Bleeding
  • Poisoning
  • Injuries on the bones, muscles and joints

Furthermore you will learn how to bring a victim to safety and how to evaluate the condition of the victim. Another core element of providing First Aid is alarming the emergency services. This will also be covered at this course.
