The extended First Aid refresher course will take 1 day in total. You are allowed to participate in this course under the condition that you have a valid certificate of the extended First Aid course of the Red Cross. When you have completed the refresher course, you will get a European certified Red Cross certificate again. This certificate is also valid for 2 years.

Course content:

With the refresher course you will learn once again how to provide First Aid in several situations. You will probably recognize some of the assignments from the extended First Aid course you took before. However is it always good to repeat this to refresh your memory. You are going to practice how to perform resuscitation on a resuscitation dummy and how to use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Furthermore you will learn once again how to provide First Aid with:

• Wounds
• Bleeding
• Unconsciousness
• Choking
• A stroke, fainting
• A concussion
• Dyspnea, hyperventilation
• Insect bite
• Hypothermia and overheating
• Diabetes
• Epilepsy, seizures
• Injures on bones, muscles and joints
• Head-, neck- and spinal injuries
• Chest pains

This course also covers on how to bring a victim to safety, how you can evaluate the victims condition and alarming the emergency services. Through this way you will be prepared for situations in real life.
