The organisation

As of 1 January 2008, six fire brigades from the municipalities of Amsterdam, Aalsmeer, Amstelveen, Diemen, Ouderkerk a/d Amstel and Uithoorn form the regional fire brigade Amsterdam-Amstelland. The Fire Brigade Training Center Amsterdam Amstelland Schiphol (BOCAS) is part of the Amsterdam – Amstelland Fire Department.

BOCAS is a training center, located in Schiphol, with options for practicing various forms of firefighting and emergency services, both mono- and multidisciplinary.

The BOCAS team consists of twenty highly driven and enthusiastic people. People with each their own background, experience and talents. The strength of our team lies in the combination of all these talents into a whole.

Core tasks

You teach (on a freelance basis) to professionals from the Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Brigade in the areas of Brand, HV and OGS. You will mainly be deployed during the training of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Fire Brigade. Classes can take place during the day, in the evening or at the weekend and will never be consecutive to a working day. In this position you come under the Head of Didactics & Instruction of the BOCAS.

Job requirements

• You have the Instructor diploma
• You have (preferably) the Commander’s diploma
• You have an intrinsic need to gather and share knowledge
• You are flexible, accurate and have good communication skills.
• You are available for a minimum of 5 days per month (not consecutively on a working day)
• Additional didactic diplomas or experience are an advantage.
