Course Objectives:

Course Outline:

1. Introduction to Fire Safety
   • Overview of the STCW requirements for fire prevention and firefighting.
   • Understanding the importance of fire safety on board ships.
2. Fundamentals of Fire Science
   • Basic principles of fire, including the fire triangle and fire behavior.
   • Different classes of fire and appropriate extinguishing methods for each.
3. Fire Prevention Techniques
   • Common fire hazards on ships and strategies to mitigate risks.
   • Best practices for fire prevention in various ship areas, including engine rooms and accommodation spaces.
4. Firefighting Equipment and Personal Protective Gear
   • Introduction to firefighting equipment, including fire extinguishers, hoses, and foam systems.
   • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for firefighting, including fire suits, helmets, and breathing apparatus.
5. Firefighting Procedures and Techniques
   • Step-by-step procedures for responding to fire emergencies on board.
   • Techniques for attacking and extinguishing different types of fires.
   • Practical sessions on firefighting techniques, including hose handling, nozzle operation, and fire suppression.
6. Emergency Response and Coordination
   • Role of the crew in fire emergencies and the importance of teamwork.

7. Practical Firefighting Drills

Certification: Participants who successfully complete the training will receive an STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (FPFF) certificate, internationally recognized under STCW standards.

Entry Requirements:

• No prior experience is required.
