Our NOGEPA 2.14A Management of Major Emergencies course is specifically developed for Offshore Installation Managers (OIM) and key personnel who are part of an Emergency Management Team. This training focuses on equipping delegates with the leadership skills and decision-making abilities needed to effectively manage major emergencies on offshore mining installations. Participants learn to lead a well-trained Emergency Response organization, assess critical situations, manage information flow, and take decisive action while delegating tasks efficiently during high-pressure incidents.
Effective communication is at the heart of successful emergency management, especially in challenging offshore environments. The course emphasizes both internal and external communication strategies, as well as techniques for managing stress in oneself and others. Practical training is delivered through realistic Command Centre simulations, covering a range of emergency scenarios classified as readily controllable, potentially escalating, or uncontrollable situations that may require installation abandonment. These immersive exercises prepare participants to respond to incidents such as equipment loss, multiple casualties, containment failures, communication breakdowns, and environmental hazards.
Our training ensures that delegates are prepared to maintain a state of readiness, understand the unique leadership requirements of major emergencies, and recognize the impact of stress on key personnel. The course also includes relevant case studies to reinforce learning. Please note that all course details, including prerequisites and certification validity, are based on current NOGEPA standards.
