Our OPITO CRO-ER (9004) course is designed for experienced personnel who are preparing to take on the vital role of Control Room Operator (CRO) during emergency situations in the oil and gas industry. This assessment-based program is tailored for those who have already demonstrated their readiness and have a leading role in maintaining emergency preparedness on offshore E&P installations. Through realistic simulations and expert guidance, participants will be assessed on their ability to manage and respond to emergencies, ensuring the safety of both personnel and assets. The assessment takes place in a dedicated Emergency Control Room at our FMTC Dordrecht location in the Netherlands, utilizing a state-of-the-art simulator to replicate real-life emergency scenarios.
To enroll in the OPITO CRO-ER (9004) course, candidates must provide written evidence of their qualification to act as a CRO and proof of their experience in emergency preparedness leadership. Additionally, participants are required to sign a medical screening form confirming their fitness to undertake the assessment. We strongly recommend attending the CRO-ER Preparation immediately before the assessment to become familiar with the simulator, scenario types, and the layout of the Emergency Control Centre. This preparation helps ensure a smooth assessment process.
The OPITO CRO-ER (9004) course is entirely assessment-based, with no formal written examination. Candidates will be evaluated through observation while managing a minimum of two emergency scenarios relevant to their operational environment. The assessment is conducted by experienced industry professionals, and successful completion results in the awarding of the OPITO CRO-ER certification. Participants are allowed up to three attempts to successfully complete the required scenarios. There are scheduled comfort breaks and a lunch break to support an effective and engaging assessment environment.
