Our GWO Working at Heights course is specifically designed for professionals in the wind industry who need to work safely at heights. This training, developed by the Global Wind Organisation, focuses on promoting positive safety behaviors and equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the unique risks associated with working on wind turbine generators. The course is suitable for new participants and particapants whose current certifcate has expired. This module is also part of the GWO Basic Safety training.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates receive a GWO-approved Working at Heights certificate, which remains valid for two years. To maintain certification, participants must refresh the training before their certificate expires otherwise they need to complete
the basic training again.GWO does not offer dispensation for expired certificates. The course covers essential topics such as the identification and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard recognition, and the implementation of safe working procedures, including basic rescue techniques relevant to wind turbine environments.

Throughout the training, delegates gain practical experience in inspecting, fitting, and using PPE, as well as in handling rescue situations and evacuation procedures. The curriculum is aligned with current national and regional legislation, ensuring that participants are up to date with the latest safety standards. This comprehensive approach helps ensure that everyone working at height in the wind industry is well-prepared to handle the challenges of their role safely and effectively.

FAQ

GWO stands for ‘Global Wind Organisation’. It is a non-profit organisation and has provided the Basic Safety Training standards for the wind industry since 2012.

Throughout this course, the delegate will be taught about the dangers of working at heights, the safety legislation surrounding this type of work, how to check whether protective gear and equipment is functioning properly and much more. The GWO Working at Height Course is also part of the GWO Basic Safety Training Course.

The GWO Working at Height course is taught according to theoretical and practical assignments.

 

WINDA is the name of the Global Wind Industry Training Records Database. It maintains data on the certification status of GWO Certified Training Providers as well as the status of delegates that have attended courses. The delegate is required to create an account for WINDA, as a sticker and registration are added in WINDA upon succesful completion of a course. No certificate is provided.

Click here to create an account in WINDA. Upon succesful registration, the user receives a WINDA ID. The WINDA ID is required for us to add the GWO Course to the account of a delegate, including the Basic Training Course.

The employer also has the option of creating an account, allowing them to verify the training status of their (potential) employees.

Training takes place between 7:30 and 16:00 (7:30 AM and 4:00 PM). Anyone participating is required to be present at the training centre at 7:30. When you’re not there on time you have to make up for lost time and this will be charged. The client will be notified.

Lunch is provided by FMTC. You can choose from freshly made sandwiches, soup, snacks and fruit. Tea and coffee are also available.

If you have a Personal Safety Logbook and/or Seaman book, you must bring them in order to have them updated. The required safety materials are provided for by FMTC. You may bring your own safety shoes.

Note that you will be notified of all required materials in the confirmation e-mail when booking the course.

All our courses are taught in English. When there are only Dutch participant the course will be held in Dutch.

We advise you to book your flight 2 hours after the end of the course, at a minimum.

GWO courses do not require an examination.

When a physical examination is required, this can be noted on the same booking form. If the course has already been booked, you can send an e-mail to info@fmtcsafety.com or call +31 (0) 85 130 74 61 so we can help you further.

After the booking, you will receive a confirmation. In the meantime, a request will be sent to the doctor. The doctor will plan the physical examination. On the following working day at the latest you will receive the confirmation of your appointment with date, time and location.
