Our GWO Fire Awareness Refresher course is designed for professionals working in the wind energy sector who need to maintain their current Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Fire Awareness certification. This course is ideal for technicians, safety personnel, and anyone responsible for fire safety and emergency preparedness in wind turbine environments. Through a blend of theoretical and practical training, participants update their skills and knowledge to effectively prevent, manage, and respond to fire incidents specific to wind turbines.
The course ensures that delegates remain compliant with GWO standards, reinforcing a high level of safety and preparedness. Participants will learn how to prevent fires, make sound decisions when evaluating a fire situation, manage the safe evacuation of personnel, and, when safe, extinguish initial fires using handheld firefighting equipment. Hands-on training is a key component, allowing participants to refresh their fire awareness skills while maintaining flexibility in their schedules.
To maintain certification, it is essential to complete the GWO Fire Awareness Refresher before the current certificate expires. The refresher can be taken up to two months before expiry, with the new certificate reflecting the original expiry date. GWO certificates are valid for two years, and training records are managed in WINDA, the Global Wind Organisation’s database. If a certificate expires, individuals are required to retake the full GWO Basic Safety Training course rather than just the refresher.
