The STCW Basic Safety Training is an internationally recognized course mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and forms the foundation for all seafarers working on seagoing vessels. This training is essential for anyone employed or engaged in any capacity on board, including deck and engine crew, stewards, officers, and other operational staff with designated safety or pollution-prevention duties. The course ensures that participants acquire the critical skills and knowledge required for safety and survival at sea, making it a vital step for those starting or continuing a maritime career.
Our training is fully approved by the national flagstate, meeting the requirements set out in the STCW Convention, specifically Regulation VI/1 and Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Code. The course covers all four mandatory modules: Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities. Each module is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge, ensuring seafarers are prepared to handle emergencies and contribute to a safe working environment on board.
Upon successful completion of all modules and practical assessments, participants receive an internationally recognized STCW certificate. This certification is valid for five years, after which refresher training is required if the certificate has expired. The STCW Basic Safety Training is a mandatory prerequisite for all seafarers with safety or pollution-prevention duties, ensuring compliance with international maritime standards.
