Mercury can occur naturally alongside hydrocarbons and may therefore be present during oil and gas production and related activities. If not correctly identified and managed, mercury can present risks to both personnel and plant or equipment.
The Mercury Awareness & Management Training provides participants with an understanding of the risks associated with working in environments where mercury is, or could become, present.
During the course, participants learn about the different properties and forms of mercury, recommended exposure limits and the potential hazards associated with mercury exposure and contamination. The training also addresses the control measures that can be used to reduce workplace exposure and the importance of maintaining appropriate records relating to mercury exposure.
The training is relevant not only to personnel working directly in potentially contaminated areas, but also to personnel involved in planning or supporting projects where mercury may be present. This can include offshore personnel, maintenance teams, decommissioning personnel and onshore project teams.
