GWO Service Lift User (SLU) + Complementary Service Lift Evacuation Training

Course details

GWO Service Lift Training aims to provide both theoretical and practical instruction to equip those working in wind turbines with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform pre-use inspection and operation of WTG service lifts. It takes a pragmatic, generic approach to illustrate relevant information to allow participants to be better prepared on what they may encounter in the wind industry.

Additionally, the complementary service lift evacuation practical training will allow participants to practice and gain the necessary knowledge and skills regarding evacuating from a service lift. This is only demonstrated by an instructor during the GWO SLU but will be covered extensively in this part of the training.

More information about GWO Service Lift User (SLU) + Complementary Service Lift Evacuation Training

The target group for the Service Lift User Module training is personnel working on WTGs within the wind industry where the use of lifts is required for transportation of personnel and equipment inside the WTG.

Upon completion of the GWO Service Lift User Module and the Complementary service lift practical evacuation training, participants will be aware of the risks and hazards encountered in the use of lifts within the wind industry. Furthermore, they will be able to control and mitigate those risks and hazards. Participants will also be equipped with the ability to take responsibility and appropriately respond in the event of a hazardous situation that requires evacuation from the service lift and to increase their safety through proper use of personal protective equipment, emergency equipment and procedures.

This training consists of only the first GWO Service Lift User module and the Complementary Service Lift Evacuation training. It does not include certification for the modules of the Service lift inspection and maintenance nor the Service lift installation, inspection and repair module.

The FMTC Rennes training center has two different cable guided and one ladder guided service lift model on the training center, with this we cover approximately 90% of the lifts you may find in the onshore wind industry.

Participants should bring:

– Valid ID/proof of identity

– Comfortable, durable clothing suitable for physical tasks (e.g., long sleeves and trousers)

– All necessary PPE will be provided during the course

FAQ

The singular Service Lift User module does not provide participants with the knowledge, skills and abilities to escape or evacuate from a Service Lift User in case of emergency. The addition of the complementary training means service lift users will be far better prepared to face the challenges of working in a wind turbine.

The additional theory and practical activities contained in the Complementary training are designed by OpenR instructors who have many years of experience in the inspecting and maintaining of various service lift types.

After successfully completing GWO Service Lift User (SLU) + Complementary Service Lift Evacuation Training, the participant will be awarded the following certificate(s): Complementary Service Lift Evacuation Training & GWO Module Service Lift User.
