The course is divided into nine units covering the main safety topics: Introduction to the Hazardous Environment; Working Safely, including Safety Observation Systems – Further; Understanding the Risk Assessment Process – Further; Tasks That Require a Permit to Work – Further; Personal Responsibility for Maintaining Asset Integrity; Using Manual Handling Techniques in Everyday Work – Further; Controlling the Use of Hazardous Substances – Further; Knowledge and Safe Practices for Working at Height; and Awareness of Mechanical Lifting Activities.
Before starting the course, you must have a valid identification document issued by a national authority, such as a passport, in order to verify your identity. You must also have any required verification documents ready, as outlined in the prerequisites. These must be provided electronically for verification purposes in either JPG or PDF format. To attend this course, you must hold either a valid OPITO IMIST Initial certificate, a valid OPITO IMIST Further certificate, or a valid OPITO Vantage number with previous offshore work experience. Learners using offshore experience as evidence of eligibility must complete a declaration before the course begins. This declaration must confirm prior offshore work experience and include details of the most recent offshore trip, including the asset name, location, and dates.
