More information about GWO Working at Heights (E-learning + Practical)

Our GWO Working at Heights (E-learning + Practical) course is an essential part of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training framework, specifically designed for professionals working in the onshore and offshore wind industry. This training is ideal for technicians, engineers, safety personnel, and operational staff involved in the construction, maintenance, and servicing of wind turbines and associated infrastructure. The course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to work safely at height, ensuring that safety procedures, emergency response, and correct use of equipment are second nature in high-risk environments.

The blended learning model allows delegates to complete the theoretical component online in approximately six hours, followed by a one-day practical session at one of our FMTC training centers. Access to the e-learning platform is provided four weeks prior to the course start date, and for those booking within this period, immediate access is granted upon booking. Upon successful completion of both the e-learning and practical components, participants receive the same GWO certificate as the full classroom version. The GWO Working at Heights certificate remains valid for two years, with a 60-day window before expiry to complete a refresher course and maintain certification without changing the original expiry date. If the certificate is not renewed within this period and expires, the full course must be retaken.

To participate in the course, attendees must bring a valid government-issued photo ID, a WINDA ID for certificate registration with the Global Wind Organisation (https://winda.globalwindsafety.org), and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as safety boots and workwear. The training is a foundational requirement for accessing wind farms or offshore installations, providing both theoretical foundations and hands-on skills needed to protect oneself and colleagues while working at height on wind turbines or related structures.
