CAA ROCC OCS (Radio Operators Certificate of Competence – Offshore Communication Service) is an essential qualification for anyone in the offshore oil and gas industry who will be responsible for operating a radio. This certification is a mandatory requirement for all offshore radio operators and anyone providing an Offshore Communication Service within UK Offshore Waters. Our training is designed to ensure participants gain the necessary knowledge and skills to operate a radio in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards. The CAA is the globally recognised Civil Aviation Authority, and a particular focus is placed on effective communication with helicopters on offshore helidecks.
Throughout the course, delegates will develop a comprehensive understanding of radio operations, including the correct use of terminology and phraseology when communicating with helicopters. This supports the work of both HLO and HDA, as detailed in the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) course. The training includes both theoretical lessons and practical exercises to prepare delegates for the CAA examination, which must be passed to obtain the ROCC OCS certificate. Only after successful completion of this exam will the certificate be awarded.
Our course also features an e-learning component that must be completed before attending the on-site training. E-learning access is provided within one working day for bookings made within four weeks of the course date, or four weeks prior to the start for bookings made further in advance. For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome for the online learning system, as Safari is not fully supported.
The process to register for a CAA portal account is detailed here.
