COURSE CERTIFIED BY
GWO Service Lift User (SLU) is a mixed theoretical and practical training designed to provide wind technicians with the knowledge, skills and abilities to safely use, operate and evacuate a service lift inside a wind turbine generator (WTG). The training follows a pragmatic, generic approach covering the different lift types and systems commonly found in WTGs, making it applicable across sites and turbine models. It is intended for personnel within the wind industry who rely on lifts for the transportation of people and equipment inside the WTG, with local induction and familiarisation remaining the responsibility of the operator in accordance with local legislation.
GWO Module Service Lift User
0.5 days
This training does not have a fixed expiry date. To ensure ongoing competence and safe working practices, refreshing knowledge and practical skills every two years is strongly recommended, provided the participant remains actively involved in the wind industry.
A valid WINDA ID
A valid GWO Working at Heights / Working at Heights Refresher certificate
The GWO Service Lift User Module is aimed at personnel working on wind turbine generators where the use of service lifts is required. During the training, participants gain insight into the risks and hazards associated with lift operations in the wind industry and learn how to control and mitigate these through safe working practices, correct procedures and effective communication.
Evacuation from the lift is demonstrated by the instructor in accordance with the GWO Lift Training Standard guidelines. Participants do not practise evacuation during this module. If you wish to perform and practise lift evacuation yourself, please refer to the GWO Service Lift User (SLU) Advanced Training.
Our training facilities are equipped with three different types of service lifts: two cable guided models and one ladder guided model. Together, these represent the vast majority of lift systems used in the onshore wind industry.
This module involves physical activities such as manual handling, climbing in the service lift, ladder climbing and working in confined spaces. Prior to attending the course, participants are required to sign a medical declaration on site.
