Our GWO Basic Safety Training (E-learning + Practical) is designed for professionals working in the offshore wind industry who require internationally recognized safety certification. This blended course allows participants to complete the theoretical modules online at their own pace, followed by practical training at our center. The GWO Basic Safety Training (E-learning + Practical) ensures that technicians, maintenance staff, and other wind turbine professionals are fully prepared to identify hazards and respond effectively to emergencies in wind turbine environments. By combining e-learning with hands-on exercises, participants can save time, reduce travel, and maintain compliance with industry safety standards while keeping their schedules flexible.
Once registered, participants receive access to the online learning materials via email, enabling them to complete the theoretical portion at their convenience, typically within two days (16 hours). If the course is booked more than four weeks before the practical session, access to the e-learning platform is provided four weeks prior to the start date. After successfully completing the e-learning component, only the practical exercises at the training center remain. Upon completion of both parts, participants receive the same internationally recognized GWO certificate as the full in-person course.
The GWO Basic Safety Training (E-learning + Practical) covers all five mandatory modules: First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Working at Heights, and Sea Survival. For those who prefer to complete modules individually, we also offer separate e-learning courses: GWO Working at Height E-learning, GWO First Aid E-learning, GWO Sea Survival E-learning, GWO Manual Handling E-learning, and GWO Fire Awareness E-learning.
A valid WINDA ID is required for all GWO-certified training. This ID can be created for free by registering as a delegate at https://winda.globalwindsafety.org. Participants must bring a valid ID and WINDA ID to the practical session. GWO Basic Safety Training certificates are valid for two years from the date of completion. To maintain certification, a refresher course must be completed before the certificates expire. There is a 60-day renewal window for the refresher, which can be booked at GWO Refresher E-learning. If the refresher is not completed within the allowed timeframe, the full initial training must be retaken.
