The OPITO IMIST Further online course is for experienced offshore workers to renew their IMIST certification every four years. The course covers key safety elements required by all employees working in the energy industry. It also ensures the knowledge and understanding of these basic safety elements are maintained and current amongst the existing workforce. Related courses might include HUET, FOET, or MIST for UK waters as required. You are required to revalidate your certification every four years in order to remain valid.

You must ensure you have a valid identification document issued by a national body (ie Passport) in order to verify your identification when starting the course. You must also ensure you have any verification documents to hand (see reference ‘Prerequisites) for which you will be required to provide an electronic copy for verification purposes, either as .Jpg or .PDF formats.

Prerequisites

A valid OPITO IMIST Initial or valid OPITO IMIST Further training certificate. Or, A valid OPITO Vantage number and have previously worked offshore*. *Learners must complete a declaration prior to course commencement confirming prior offshore work experience, including details of their last offshore trip, to include asset name, location and dates.

The IMIST Further (or IMIST-F) is the OPITO-approved refresher course for experienced workers to renew their IMIST safety certification. This differs from the UK orientated M-OPITO MIST course which specifically refers to UK legislation and work practices.

Yes — typically you must already hold a valid OPITO IMIST Initial/Further certificate or have a valid Vantage number plus relevant offshore experience.

Typically 4- 5 hours of e-learning content.

This course revisits key safety topics relevant to offshore/onshore energy work such as hazard awareness, risk assessment and safe working practices. See more details below on course content.

There are nine mandatory Units, and an Assessment Test at the end of the course. You may attempt this Test up to three times.

When your course is confirmed you will be sent the validation code and passwords in order to log in.

On successful completion, you receive an OPITO certificate valid for 4 years. You will receive it via the via FMTC Portal.
