Our Confined Space Shipyard Competent (8 Hour) course is designed to equip workers with the essential skills and knowledge required for safe operations in marine environments, in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1915 Subpart B. This training is specifically tailored for individuals assigned to confined space duties within shipyards, ensuring they understand the unique hazards and necessary precautions associated with these challenging workspaces.
Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the characteristics that define a confined space, as well as the various hazard categories they may encounter. The course covers the critical elements of a confined space program, including the roles and responsibilities of authorized entrants, attendants, supervisors, and designated rescue teams or services. Emphasis is placed on the importance of personal protective equipment, the correct use of rescue and retrieval systems, and the ability to perform effective rescues when required.
Throughout the training, delegates will have opportunities to demonstrate their practical skills during hands-on exercises and will be assessed on their knowledge through a written examination. This ensures that all participants leave the course fully prepared to perform their duties safely and competently in shipyard confined spaces. There are no additional prerequisites or medical requirements specified for this course.
