Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Courses offer certified safety training for professionals in the onshore and offshore wind energy sector.
A GWO course is meant for people working in the wind industry. This course is mandatory, because without the basic safety training you’re not allowed to enter a platform or a ship. Do you want to follow a GWO course? Then book directly the GWO Basic Safety course or one of the separate modules. At FMTC Safety we offer a range of courses, from a Manual Handling training to GWO Sea Survival Refresher and the GWO First Aid Refresher. All our training courses meet the GWO standards and are fully certified by GWO.
The Global Wind Organization (GWO) originated when several major players in the wind industry started a partnership. GWO makes the standard for people who work in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. The goal is to create a safe working environment for the personnel in the wind industry.
In 2012, the Basic Safety Training (GWO BST) was therefore introduced. This course allows the participant to get acquainted with the risks and dangers when working in the wind industry. During this course, the participant also learns how to handle risky situations. At FMTC Safety you can book the GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore, but also book separate modules, such as the GWO BST Fire Awareness and GWO BST Manual Handling. Whichever health and safety training for the wind industry you need, we offer the GWO courses that suit your needs.
The GWO Basic Safety Training course consists of five different modules. These are GWO First Aid, GWO Working at Heights, GWO Sea Survival, GWO Fire Awareness and GWO Manual Handling. You can also follow these modules separately. During these courses, the theory of the relevant subject is discussed. Later on, this theory will be applied during practical exercises.
After successful completion of the courses, you will receive your GWO certification and be registered on WINDA. This registration has a validity of 2 years, after which you need to repeat the course. This way, the participant will be up to date and will remain informed regarding the latest developments. Of course we also offer refresher training courses, such as the GWO Fire Awareness Refresher.
FMTC Safety is one of the GWO training providers that has all the necessary GWO certificates. All instructors are certified and know the field. They know what they are talking about and can convey procedures and techniques in a fascinating and realistic way. This way, you remember the course material better. Because we know how important a good schedule is, you can train with us whenever it suits you. Of course, we have all the needed GWO certifications and equipment in our training centres. And we have years of experience teaching GWO courses!

A GWO course is an official safety training designed for professionals in the wind industry. It covers the risks of working on wind turbines and is required before you can access offshore or onshore wind installations.
If you’re entering the wind sector, you’ll need a GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) course. This training is mandatory and comes in different variants depending on your work location and preference. You can choose between onshore and offshore BST versions, and follow the training either fully on location or through a blended format with e-learning and one day of practical training.
