Our OPITO MEMIR (7228) Online course is designed for personnel who are designated to lead, support, or be members of an emergency management team during a major incident. This comprehensive training is ideal for those aspiring to become Emergency Response Managers or progress into advanced emergency control roles. Delivered entirely online, the course requires a stable internet connection, a PC with a microphone and webcam, and a second screen to ensure full participation in all interactive and scenario-based elements.
The Major Emergency Management – Initial Response Training (MEMIR) course focuses on the essential factors involved in preparing for, responding to, and maintaining control during the escalation of an emergency. Participants will develop skills in managing communications, implementing response plans, and understanding how stress can impact both individual and team performance. A key feature of the training is the opportunity to role-play as the emergency manager in at least two different emergency scenarios, followed by constructive feedback from experienced instructors to reinforce learning and enhance decision-making abilities.
Our training provides formal instruction in command, control, communication, and stress management during emergencies. Delegates complete two mandatory units, with assessments based on OPITO performance outcomes. There are no formal prerequisites for attendance, but all participants must complete a medical declaration upon arrival, and should be prepared for physically and mentally demanding assessments. The course is delivered over three to four consecutive days, totaling approximately 26 guided learning hours, with a balance of classroom theory and live emergency simulations. Successful completion of this course may lead to progression towards OIM Controlling Emergencies (OIM-CE), OPITO CRO-ER (Product 7025), or MEMIR for Renewable Energy (9257), depending on your career goals and industry sector.
