This combined course brings together two OPITO-approved initial training programmes.
Tropical BOSIET with CA-EBS
The Tropical BOSIET with CA-EBS is intended for personnel who are new or returning to the offshore industry and who will travel to offshore installations by helicopter in a tropical environment where a Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) is provided.
Participants learn about offshore hazards, risk controls and basic safety management. They are also trained to correctly use CA-EBS and practise the procedures and equipment required during helicopter emergencies, with particular emphasis on escaping from a helicopter following a simulated ditching.
The training additionally includes sea survival, first aid, basic firefighting and self-rescue techniques in low-visibility and smoke-filled environments.
Travel Safely by Boat
The Travel Safely by Boat Initial Training (TSbB) is intended for new entrants and personnel who travel and transfer by boat to offshore installations.
The training provides participants with an understanding of the risks associated with offshore boat travel and transfers, the safety rules that apply and the actions required in an emergency. Participants learn how to use relevant personal safety equipment and practise the correct method of transferring between a simulated boat deck and an offshore installation.
By combining both programmes, participants receive training covering the principal safety considerations associated with travelling offshore by both helicopter and boat.
