GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT)

The GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) provides the core technical skills wind turbine technicians need to work safely and efficiently. The full programme covers four disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Bolt Tightening. Employers most often require the BTT including Bolt Tightening, as it certifies all modules in one course.

What the BTT covers

  • Mechanical (BTTM) – components, bearings, gearboxes, brakes, shafts and safe working practices.
  • Electrical (BTTE) – electrical principles, measurements, sensors, wiring, fault finding and safety.
  • Hydraulic (BTTH) – hydraulic theory, components, maintenance, troubleshooting and safe operations.
  • Bolt Tightening (BTTB) – correct torque/tension methods and use of tightening equipment.
