Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re new to the offshore oil and gas industry, you’ll need the OPITO BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) course. This is the standard requirement for first-time offshore workers. FMTC Safety also offers the OPITO E-BOSIET — a digital version where you complete the theory online at your own pace. After finishing the e-learning, you only need to attend one practical day at the training centre to receive your full certification.

Our OPITO E-learning safety courses are designed for professionals in the offshore and wind energy sectors. These blended learning programmes allow you to complete the theory online, at your own pace and location, before attending one of our training centres for the practical exercises.
FMTC Safety Locations
We offer OPITO E-learning courses at multiple locations in the Netherlands, including Schiphol Amsterdam and Dordrecht. Internationally, you can train in the United States (Houma, LA), France (Dunkirk) and Saudi Arabia (Ras Tanura). All our centres are officially recognised by OPITO.
What is OPITO?
OPITO stands for Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation. Established in 1977, its mission is to set globally recognised safety and competency standards for the oil and gas industry. Working with industry partners, OPITO develops and updates training requirements for both onshore and offshore roles, ensuring consistent safety worldwide.
Our OPITO E-learning Courses
We offer two types of OPITO E-learning: the OPITO BOSIET Digital Delivery and online assessments such as OPITO OIM CE and OPITO CRO ER. Online assessments are evaluations only and do not include course content.
The OPITO BOSIET Digital Delivery is available in multiple formats, including BOSIET with EBS (5703), BOSIET with CA-EBS (5752) and T-BOSIET (5507). You complete all theory online and spend just one day at the training centre for the practical component—saving you both time and money.
