The STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher course is designed for seafarers who are required to update their advanced fire fighting skills in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the STCW Convention. This training is essential for deck and engineering officers, as well as crew members who have direct responsibility for fire fighting operations or are designated to lead or coordinate fire response on board. The course is based on STCW Regulation VI/3 and Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code, ensuring compliance with international standards and flagstate requirements.
Our training equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to organize and command fire fighting teams, implement fire prevention measures, inspect and maintain fire detection and extinguishing systems, and conduct fire investigations and reporting. The course also covers the latest advanced fire fighting techniques and emergency management strategies, building on the foundation of the STCW Basic Safety Training. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate that is recognized globally and is essential for obtaining or renewing a Certificate of Competency.
To enroll in the STCW Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher, candidates must either hold a valid Certificate of Competency, have at least 365 days of sea service in the past five years, or have completed at least three months of sea service in the past six months. The new certificate is valid for five years from the expiry date of the previous certificate, not from the course completion date. Before enrolling, it is important to provide supporting documentation to our customer support team for verification. The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments, including live fire scenarios and team coordination exercises, to ensure participants are fully prepared for real-life emergencies at sea.
