This programme is aimed at firefighters and fire officers seeking to enhance their operational capabilities through drone technology, emergency response teams looking to integrate aerial assets into their operational protocols, and public safety professionals interested in utilising drones to augment their emergency response strategies.

The programme equips firefighter personnel with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively utilise drones in firefighting operations. It covers thermal imaging evaluation, practical exercises, flying in confined spaces, sensor integration for hazard detection, planning fire countermeasures based on drone imaging, livestream integration with fire brigade operations centres, mission planning and execution, and emergency response and incident management.

The Firefighter Drone Operators (FDO) programme is accredited by Highfields Awarding Body for Compliance. Please be aware: this qualification is not regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales, CCEA or SQA.

Must be at least 18 years old • Basic familiarity with drone operations is preferred but not mandatory • Participants must be physically capable of participating in practical exercises • A valid government-issued ID is required for registration
