The GWO First Aid (E-learning + Practical) course is an essential part of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training program, specifically designed for professionals working in the wind energy sector. This blended learning course provides a flexible training solution by combining an online theoretical component, which takes approximately five hours to complete, with a half-day practical session at one of our FMTC training centers. The course is fully GWO-accredited, ensuring that participants receive industry-recognized certification that meets the highest safety standards for both onshore and offshore wind environments.
Our training is tailored for technicians, engineers, safety officers, and support staff who are responsible for installation, maintenance, inspection, or operation of wind turbines. The course equips participants with the skills to deliver effective first aid in remote and confined wind turbine environments, where immediate medical assistance may not be available. The theoretical portion must be completed online before attending the practical session, and access to the e-learning platform is provided up to four weeks before the practical training date. For those booking within this period, immediate access is granted upon registration.
Upon successful completion of both the online and practical components, participants receive a GWO First Aid certificate, identical to the one awarded for traditional in-person training. On the day of the practical session, participants are required to bring a valid government-issued photo ID and their WINDA ID, which is mandatory for GWO certification registration. Those who do not yet have a WINDA ID can register for free at https://winda.globalwindsafety.org.
