Our STCW Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat course is designed for seafarers who are assigned to operate or crew fast rescue boats (FRBs) on board vessels such as offshore support ships, tankers, and certain passenger ships. This training is mandatory under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), specifically Regulation VI/2, Paragraph 2 and Section A-VI/2-2 of the STCW Code. The course ensures that participants acquire the essential knowledge and practical skills to safely launch, operate, recover, and maintain fast rescue boats in both calm and challenging conditions.
Our training is approved by the national flagstate and meets all STCW requirements. Upon successful completion, participants receive an internationally recognized STCW certificate, valid for five years. A refresher course is required every five years, particularly for those who have not participated in hands-on drills or operations with fast rescue boats during that period. The assessment process includes both a theoretical examination and a practical demonstration, ensuring competence in all aspects of FRB operation.
To enroll in this course, participants must provide a valid ID or passport, a medical certificate, swimming gear, a seafarer’s book, and certificates of Basic Training (BST) and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB). These prerequisites are essential to ensure all trainees have the foundational skills and health required for the intensive practical elements of the course.
The STCW Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat course is essential for deck crew and other designated personnel on ISPS-compliant vessels equipped with fast rescue boats, ensuring readiness for emergency response and search and rescue operations at sea.
Learning Outcomes:
– Launch and recover a fast rescue boat safely in various conditions
