Our NOGEPA 2.14B Management of Major Emergencies course is designed to refresh and further develop the skills of Offshore Installation Managers (OIM) and key members of the Emergency Management Team who already hold a valid NOGEPA 2.14A Management of Major Emergencies certificate. This intensive two-day refresher focuses on effective leadership and decision-making during major emergencies on offshore mining installations. The training is essential for those responsible for managing critical incidents and ensuring the safety of personnel and assets in high-pressure situations.
The NOGEPA 2.14B Management of Major Emergencies refresher is structured with a strong emphasis on practical application. Approximately 80% of the course involves control room simulations, where delegates participate in realistic emergency scenarios such as loss of essential equipment, multiple casualties, communication failures, and environmental hazards. These challenging exercises are designed to test and enhance the ability to lead under pressure, manage information overload, and coordinate effective responses in rapidly evolving situations.
Participants must attend the full program to successfully complete the course. The training also covers the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Manager and the Emergency Management Team, maintaining a state of readiness, and the impact of stress on key personnel. The refresher can be integrated into NOGEPA scenario-based training for a more comprehensive approach. For those interested in additional scenario-based training, please contact our office for more information.
