Our HAZWOPER Technician Level – Day 1-3 (24 Hour) training is designed for individuals who may serve as emergency responders during hazardous substance incidents and are expected to take an offensive approach to stop or control a release. This comprehensive course provides participants with the essential knowledge and skills to function effectively as Hazardous Materials Technicians, meeting the requirements outlined by OSHA in 29 CFR 1910.120(q). Throughout the training, learners will gain a thorough understanding of their responsibilities during a HAZWOPER response, including the structure and function of the Incident Command System, the critical elements of an Emergency Response Plan, and the importance of medical surveillance and decontamination procedures.
Participants will explore advanced hazard and risk assessment techniques, learn how to identify, classify, and verify hazardous materials, and become familiar with air monitoring practices. The course also covers the selection and use of specialized chemical personal protective equipment, as well as advanced methods for control, containment, and confinement of hazardous substances. Handling drums and containers safely and understanding proper termination procedures are also key components of the curriculum. Delegates will demonstrate their knowledge through interactive classroom activities and a written examination to ensure competency in all required areas.
