Course Objectives

The Emergency Medical Responder – Initial training aims to provide participants with the capabilities to act swiftly and effectively during medical emergencies. Participants will learn to:

• Understand the EMS system and the role of an Emergency Medical Responder
• Apply legal and ethical principles in emergency medical response
• Recognize and manage wellness and safety concerns
• Use medical terminology and understand basic anatomy and physiology
• Perform lifting and moving techniques safely
• Communicate and document patient information accurately
• Manage airways, administer oxygen, and monitor vital signs
• Conduct patient assessments and handle various medical emergencies
• Provide care for trauma, cardiac, respiratory, and environmental emergencies
• Perform practical skills such as medical and trauma assessments, and the use of AEDs

To successfully complete the Emergency Medical Responder – Initial training, participants must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the course exam and pass the psychomotor skills assessment. This ensures comprehensive understanding and practical proficiency in emergency medical response.
