More information about STCW Security Awareness

Our STCW Security Awareness course is designed for all seafarers working on vessels that are subject to the ISPS Code, who do not have designated security duties. This training is mandatory under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), specifically Regulation VI/6 and Section A-VI/6-1. The course provides essential knowledge and awareness of maritime security threats, as well as the actions required to maintain security on board. It is suitable for deck and engine crew, catering staff, hotel personnel on cruise ships, trainees, cadets, and any other personnel working on ISPS-compliant vessels.

Upon successful completion of the STCW Security Awareness course, participants receive a certificate that is compliant with STCW requirements and valid for life, unless a flag state or company policy requires periodic refresher training. There are no prerequisites for this course, but participants should bring a valid passport or ID and, if applicable, a seafarer’s book. Assessment is typically through a short written test, with no practical component required. If a seafarer is assigned designated security duties, the STCW Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) course is required instead.

Our training ensures compliance with the ISPS Code for all personnel who do not have specific security responsibilities, helping to maintain a secure and safe working environment at sea.
