Our STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) course is designed for seafarers who are assigned duties to launch, operate, or take command of survival craft and rescue boats, excluding fast rescue boats. This training is essential for deck officers and deck ratings who may be part of the lifeboat or rescue boat crew, ensuring they are fully prepared to handle emergency situations at sea. The course follows the requirements set out in STCW Regulation VI/2, Paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/2-1, and is approved by the national flagstate.
The PSCRB course prepares participants to take charge of survival craft operations, including launching, handling, and leading rescue efforts during emergencies. Successful completion of this training is mandatory for any crew member assigned to operate or command survival craft on board seagoing vessels. Certification is internationally recognized and STCW-compliant, with a validity of five years. To maintain certification, seafarers must refresh their training every five years, particularly if they have not participated in recent boat drills or rescue operations.
Participants are required to bring a valid ID or passport, a medical certificate, swimming gear, their seafarer’s book, and a Certificate of Basic Training (BST), which is a prerequisite for enrollment. The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments, ensuring that all participants are competent in launching and handling survival craft, using emergency equipment, and managing rescue operations. Upon successful completion, a certificate is issued that meets international standards for maritime safety.
