Our STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Refresher course is designed for seafarers who are assigned duties to operate or take charge of survival craft and rescue boats, excluding fast rescue boats. This refresher training is essential for deck officers and ratings who may be part of the lifeboat or rescue boat crew, ensuring compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). The course is approved by the national flagstate, meeting the requirements set out in STCW Regulation VI/2, Paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/2-1.

The refresher course is mandatory every five years for those holding a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB). Participants must demonstrate their ability to launch and handle survival craft, operate emergency equipment, and lead rescue operations. To enroll, candidates must present a valid ID or passport, a medical certificate, swimming gear, their seafarer’s book, a valid Certificate of Basic Training (BST), and their previous PSCRB certificate. Eligibility to attend the refresher is based on holding a valid Certificate of Competency, proof of at least 365 days of sea service in the past five years, or at least three months of sea service in the past six months.

Upon successful completion, participants receive an internationally recognized STCW-compliant certificate, valid for five years from the expiry date of the previous certificate. The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments, focusing on real-life scenarios to ensure readiness for emergency situations at sea.
