The STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Refresher (FPFF-R) course is designed for seafarers who need to renew their certification in fire prevention and firefighting, in accordance with the STCW Convention and Code of 1978, as amended. This refresher training ensures that participants remain up to date with the latest procedures and best practices for handling fire emergencies at sea. The course is essential for maintaining compliance with regulation VI/1, paragraph 1 and section A-VI/1, paragraph 2.1, and it must be completed every five years to retain validity.
Our training focuses on refreshing the knowledge and practical skills required to respond effectively to fire incidents on board. Participants will revisit the minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and firefighting, as outlined in STCW 78/95, Section A-VI/1, Par. 2, Table A-VI/2. Upon successful completion, trainees will be competent in taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of personnel and the vessel, as well as in the correct use of fire appliances and breathing apparatus. The course also emphasizes the importance of fire prevention and equips participants with the necessary skills to act swiftly and efficiently in emergency situations.
The STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting Refresher (FPFF-R) course is required for all seafarers who wish to continue working at sea and must be renewed every five years. There are no additional prerequisites or medical requirements specified beyond holding a valid or recently expired STCW Basic Safety Training certificate. This refresher is an integral part of maintaining a safe and compliant working environment on board any vessel.
